Wisconsin Fast Plants® Dihybrid Genetics Kit Schedule Calendar

You can start this project at ANY time, but I've scheduled it to start in week 27 of Guest Hollow's Botany Curriculum. This project is OPTIONAL.

Wisconsin Fast Plants® Dihybrid Genetics Kit

Don't bother with this kit if you have a younger student. This is a study in plant genetics designed for grades 8-12.

However, having said that, there are all kinds of awesome plant experiments to do with Fast Plants that are appropriate for all ages. Click here to go to the official Fast Plant website with lots of free printables and goodies. There are downloadable lesson plans for ALL ages (elementary through college) including fat 200+ page packets with worksheets, etc.

So, if you don't want to use Fast Plants to study genetics, I highly recommend you look into using them in another capacity. There are lots of different kits and experiments that highly compliment this year's studies!

Fast Plant life cycle (with a 32 page downloadable instruction and experiment booklet) I recommend you use this along with the genetics experiment.

*The information that come with this kit are fairly advanced. This printable should help make it more understandable.

*This investigation occurs over either 45 or 85 days depending on which experiment you choose.
I'm going to schedule in the experiment that observes 2 generations of plants (45 days). You can easily extend the experiment out for a 3rd generation, if desired.

How to grow (instructions for building a light box, etc.)

 

Today you will need to build your grow-box.

*Plant extra plants that are set a little aside for the pollination biology experiment controls. 4 should be enough.
