Writing Assignments
Write a story where you describe the inner workings of a cell in a fictional setting. Make it accessible to younger children. Example: you can talk about visiting the library (DNA in the nucleus), watching the workers at the power plant (mitochondria), etc. This set of Quizlet flashcards or this PDF can help you come up with analogies. This PDF called a busy factory might also be helpful (you may need a subscription to Scribd.com to view – click this link to get 2 months for free).

Osmosis Set
Do one experiment about osmosis and one for diffusion.
Some additional diffusion activities are listed in Ellen McHenry’s Cell Curriculum for chapter 3 in the teacher’s section. I’ve scheduled chapter 3 for week 7, so you can those activities then as a refresher, or you can do them this week.
