Activity: Soil Warm up

Supplies: 2 soil thermometers

Activity: The Great Sprout Race

Supplies: 2 pieces black construction paper, water, 2 clear plastic cups or glass jars, a few seeds like peas, pumpkin, or beans, science journal
Printable: seed growth (paste in order)

Activity: These Seeds are All Wet!

Supplies: 2 pieces black construction paper, 2 clear plastic cups or glass jars, water, a few seeds like peas, pumpkin or beans, 1 cup potting soil, science journal

2nd option: Hydroponics experiment

Supplies: 2 liter soda bottle, strip of fabric, growing media (rock, marbles, sand, Legos, shredded paper, etc.), scissors, fertilizer, plant
Notes: Day 2: Exploring Spring – The soil warm up test can be adapted for any time of the year. Just pick a sunny spot of the yard vs. a shady spot and compare soil temperatures. The activity says to use soil thermometers, but you can probably use a digital thermometer.
