“It states it is for elementary grades, but my girls were actually 7th and 8th grades last year. There were a few places I needed to supplement, but the knowledge contained was amazing. I learned things I never knew, and I have a Bachelor’s Degree and taught public school for 6 years!” -Michelle P. A.

F.A.Q. for Actions and Reactions

This curriculum is designed for 1st through 6th graders (although quite a few middle schoolers have used it as well). Many of the book selections have two options, one for younger students, and one for older. Mix-and-match based on your student’s level & abilities!

Here’s a quote from one of our customers who used this curriculum with her 7th and 8th graders:

“It states it is for elementary grades, but my girls were actually 7th and 8th grades last year. There were a few places I needed to supplement, but the knowledge contained was amazing. I learned things I never knew, and I have a Bachelor’s Degree and taught public school for 6 years!”

-Michelle P. A.

If you have a Pre-K or kindergartener who wants to tag along with an older sibling, you can do that too. Just be aware that some of the books and/or information in the *spine book will be over his head. He will still benefit from many of the scheduled books and activities, though. My youngest used to learn a LOT, at that age, by just listening and playing with toys nearby while I taught his older siblings.

*A spine book is a book that is used as a backbone of a study that students will use often.

Guest Hollow’s Actions and Reactions Curriculum uses a Christian “spine book.” Please see the next F.A.Q. about that.

Christians and non-Christians should preview the scheduled books and all other resources such as videos, etc. to make sure they are compatible with your beliefs, philosophies, and values.

Note:*A spine book is a book that is used as a backbone of a study that students will use often.

Our curriculum is very flexible. You are welcome to replace the spine book (Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics) with a book of your choice. Having said that, we don’t recommend doing so since many of the videos, activities, and book choices are tied to assignments from that specific book.

Even though the spine text is Christian, I think a non-Christian family can still benefit from it by skipping the small parts that don’t agree with your beliefs. Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics is chock-full of good and experiments and activities, which is why I chose it!

Click here to see an example of the Christian material contained in the book.

We’ve had several secular families share with us that they were able to adapt the spine book without any issues as the Christian content wasn’t overwhelming (in their opinion).

There are 32 weeks in this curriculum.

After purchasing a curriculum, you’ll see that the item you just bought shows that it is discounted 50% in our store. The reason you are seeing this is because we give you the opportunity to repurchase the schedule and your downloads at a substantial discount before they expire (2 years from date of purchase).

Please note: You do NOT need to repurchase your schedule in order to use the files you originally purchased and downloaded. You can use your downloaded schedule forever and can click on the links just as you can the online version of the schedule. You just won’t have access to any updates after your online access expires.

Why does access expire? Every year we go through all our curriculum schedules and update broken links and/or replace books that have gone out of print. This is a very time-intensive process that keeps our curricula up-to-date. Your repurchase helps fund this process and provides you with a schedule that has all the new additions or changes.

*It is our intention to provide access for a period of 2 years, however, access to the online version of the curriculum schedules and additional downloads is provided as a courtesy and is not guaranteed due to potential various circumstances on our end and yours including but not limited to various computer, device, and internet configurations.

2 reviews for Actions and Reactions – A Grade School Introduction to Chemistry & Physics

  1. Tricia S Sturm (verified owner)

We were halfway through the spine text when I found Guest Hollow’s Actions and Reactions curriculum. My kids have a mix of dyslexia/ dysgraphia and the student notebooks from Apologia were too much for them to handle. This was the perfect replacement! We all loved the extra books, videos, and activities!

  2. Stephanie Schulte (verified owner)

This is such a fun way to learn chemistry and physics! While we could just use the Apologia book as the main source, utilizing Actions and Reactions by Guest Hollow makes the learning so much richer. Guest Hollow has done the work so we don’t have to! They provide so many extra resources like books, videos, printables and extra hands on activities. We use this with kids I. Grades K, 2 and 6 and I love that we can do science family style.
