Jenn & BeowulfFrom the author, Jennifer Guest:

I feel there is a great need for wholesome, fun, Christian-friendly books on a variety of integrated topics. My books are evolution-free, feature kids who dress modestly, and the relationship between siblings is loving, but realistic. I’ve created books I would feel good handing to my own children. My characters are respectful to their parents and readers don’t have to worry about the all too pervasive societal pressure creeping into my stories. At the same time, I want children’s eyes opened to the larger world around them, by introducing other cultures and moving beyond the boundaries of the United States. God has made an amazing world and I want kids to see that in my books. I strive to present characters that are innocent, intelligent and inquisitive.

While my books are God honoring, I don’t think they are preachy, and families who aren’t Christian can still benefit from the solid science concepts, information about other cultures and a fun story with interesting activities.

I hope your family loves learning with Abigail, Henry, Grace, and Beowulf!

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

This book is beautiful, engaging, well-written, and sufficient. My boys (ages 4 and 5) are drawn into the picture and ask lots of questions. I’m so thankful for the information provided in this book because it offers me the the content I need to teach. Additionally, since I am currently homeschooling my preschoolers, this book allows me to read it over them and have them catch what is of interest to them. Jennifer is an articulate writer; understanding concepts well and clearly communicating important ideas into kid-friendly language. This book also has a lot of information and covers many different areas of science besides just the seasons. It has offered us a complete and comprehensive look at the seasons.

  2. Rated 5 out of 5

The author-illustrator has done a lovely job of explaining why we have our 4 seasons and what they are like, how they differ from the Northern and Southern hemisphere and what traditions and recipes may be found in the different seasons. Written from a Christian homeschooling perspective, the older daughter, Abigail, explains the seasons to a younger brother, Henry, and younger adopted sister, Grace. The nature artwork, the dialog, and the realness of the family all work together to make this an excellent way to learn about the seasons on our earth. This book takes a difficult subject, the science behind our seasons, and make it interesting and understandable.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

We love this book! The illustrations are colorful and the content is easy for my children to understand even though they are young. If you want a wonderful resource to help you teach about the seasons (and more), then I highly recommend you order a copy of Science of the Seasons!
